In an interview with badminton ace PV Sindhu, who was in the city recently to inaugurate the second season of the Prime Volleyball League, she speaks about both her parents being elite-level volleyball players and developing an interest in the sport during her childhood by watching her father play.
Recently, Indian sportswomen have been making the headlines with Sania Mirza reaching the finals of the Australian Open (with Rohan Bopanna) in her final grand slam appearance and the under-19 Indian women’s cricket team lifting the Under-19 T20 World Cup trophy.
The 27-year-old shuttler generously comments on their successes and says, “It has been really good to see women who are coming out, proving themselves and getting medals for the country.”
A two-time Olympic medalist and former World Champion, Sindhu is looking forward to another medal at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics.
